Singer Beyoncé’s incredible Super Bowl performance has helped her new single “Formation” remain number one on the Real Time Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart. The song was the most discussed and shared track on Twitter for three hours and 10 of 18 hours. This success underscores Beyoncé’s social media run during the entire half time show: she generated over 1.3 million global tweets during the event, according to Twitter. The pop superstar also used the moment to announce that she will embark on her first stadium tour this summer with the 40-date “Formation Tour”, which will begin on April 27. Tickets will go on sale next week, starting with an Amex pre-sale. The tour’s 40 dates will be split evenly between North American, the UK and Europe, with Canada and the U.S. to run through mid-June. The UK/Europe leg will start in mid-June and conclude in July. This news comes on the heels of the surprise release of the single “Formation”, which was released with an accompanying music video on Feb. 6, the day before her performance at Super Bowl 50. Rapper Drake was mentioned along with other artists who will be performing at this year’s ceremony. However, this came as a surprise to the Toronto native, who stated that he will not be performing at the Grammys. Other artists who haven’t been named as performers were featured in the ad including Ice Cube, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Lionel Richie, Meghan Trainor, Luke Bryan and Nicki Minaj. Drake is nominated for four awards including Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Performance. Taylor Swift, Rhianna, Justin Bieber, Diplo, Skrillex, Chris Stapleton, Bonnie Raitt, Gary Clark Jr., Pitbull, Robin Thicke and Travis Barker and the Hollywood Vampires were added to the line up of performers this week. It had been previously revealed that Adele, James Bay, Andra Day, Ellie Goulding, the Broadway cast of Hamilton, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd will also perform. The Grammy Awards will air on Feb. 15. Rapper Kanye West’s new album may not be titled “Waves” after all. The rap superstar has had trouble deciding a title for his highly anticipated upcoming release, having announced that it would be called “Waves”, after settling for “Swish” and “So Help Me God” before that. To make things even more confusing, West has indicated that there may be a different title for the project. He has until Wednesday to decide a title for his seventh studio album, which he has described as “one of the greatest albums”. It’s due to be released the following day.
