Limited edition vinyl has recently become a hot commodity in the music industry, and the latest artist to get the special treatment is neo soul crooner Maxwell. Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music, will celebrate the singer with the release of two collectable limited edition 12″ vinyl albums on Friday, October 28. First on Legacy will be the reissue of  the 20th Anniversary edition of Maxwell’s debut album “Urban Hang Suite”, a two LP collection pressed on Metallic Gold 12″ 150gram vinyl with an 8 page booklet that includes rare images of the original album and single photo shoots. This fall, the singer is set to embark on the “King And Queen Of Hearts Tour” with Mary J. Blige. The tour will play arenas across Europe and North America.  The grand opening of Smithsonian’s National Museum Of African American  History And Culture is a few week away, and it will be an exciting event, to say the least. Beyond the festivities at the museum in Washington DC, it’s been announced that ABC will produce a two hour special titled “Taking The Stage, Changing America”, which will include performances from Usher, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo and more. The show is set to be filmed on September 23 in Washington DC from the John F. Kennedy Center For The Arts. Other artist scheduled to perform include Jamie Foxx, Christian Aguilera, Common, Gladys Knight, Dave Grohl, go go band Trouble Funk, Patti Austin, Gary Clark Jr., The Howard Gospel Choir and The Alvin Alley Dancers. A set date has not been announced, but the show will air on ABC nationwide in the 2016-2017 season.  In other news, it was reported during the summer that Mary J. Blige filed for a divorce from her husband of 12 years, Kendu Isaacs. TMZ reported that the singer listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and asked the judge to block Isaacs from receiving spousal support.  Well, things could get ugly, because Isaacs has reportedly filed a response to Mary’s divorce filing, and according to TMZ,  he’s demanding spousal support. He also wants Mary to pay his legal fees. We’ll have to wait and see how this pans out. It’s been eight years since Jennifer Hudson’s mother Darnell, nephew Julian and brother Jason were all brutally murder, and yesterday, on her 35th birthday, the powerhouse paid tribute to her mother. The singer posted a photo of herself and her mother as a young woman, and the resemblance is uncanny! Without a doubt, Hudson’s mother would be proud. Attendees of this year’s Beyond Fest in Los Angeles are in for a special treat. It has been announced that RZA, founding member of the Wu Tang Clan, will live score the 1978 action film “The 36 Chamber Of Sholin.” According to the site, RZA saw the film when he was 12. As for the music, he says he will score the film from opening sequence to closing credits. The screening will take place on October 7.
