Singer Anthony Hamilton recently appeared in the NPR Music documentary “Noteworthy.” Host Jay King, curator of NPR Music’s R&B stream, “I’ll Take You There”, revealed new insight behind the singer/songwriter’s creative direction, inspiration and early development. Hamilton took King to the home were he grew up; the barber shop where he cut hair and found stories for his songs; and the church where he sang his first solo. Before he got the record deal that took him to New York, and then to millions around the world with the release of his debut album “Coming From Where I’m From”, Hamilton cut hair in a Charlotte NC barber shop. He stated that in that environment you have men, woman and children entering and ideas for songs come to mind. “Noteworthy” is certainly worth a watch. As fans eagerly await new music from PARTYNEXTDOOR and Jeremih, the collaborators are now heading out on the road for a joint tour. Following the release of PARTYNEXTDOOR’s new album “P3”, he announced the “Summer’s Over Tour”, featuring Jeremih. The 19 date trek is scheduled to begin on Nov. 8 in Miami and will run through North America before culminating on Dec. 11 in San Francisco. This past June, the two artists announced their joint project “Late Night Part”, which has produced the Lil Wayne assisted single “Like Dat.” Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday, September 30. Presale tickets can be purchased PND’s website. Last night, Beyoncé took time to honor rapper Shawty Lo during a “Formation World Tour” stop in Atlanta. Sadly, Lo died in a car accident, and to honor his musical contributions, Beyoncé and her dancers broke out in a dance break to his hit “Dey Know” mixed with her hit “Diva.” She later blew a kiss to the sky to honor his spirit. The Game’s verbal attack against rapper Meek Mill continues. In the visual for his new single “Pest Control”, which is a flip on the Young MA hit “OOOUUU”, the West Coast rapper describes the Philadelphia native as a rodent dubbed “Meeky Mouse.” The clip opens with a young boy calling pest control to his house to take care of a rat in his room. The exterminator opens the door and is greeted by Meek Mill’s music before whacking the rat with a bat. The Game then takes his bars to the projects of New York and weaves in classic films such as “Friday” along with football game footage to drive his point home. Game also took aim at Meek Mill’s Dream Chasers signee Omelly during a recent freestyle on “Sway In The Morning” and plugged a clip of Sigel being punched backstage at a Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour concert in Philadelphia, allegedly by a member of Mill’s crew, according to TMZ. Game says the feud started after Mill allegedly admitted to being involved in a nightclub robbery where Sean Kingston’s $300,000 chain was snatched back in June where robberies were apparently running rampant. Stay tuned. Only time will tell where things will go from here.

The “Blurred Lines” verdict has certainly shaken up the music industry. Singer Omarion, DJ Mustard and Atlantic Records are facing a lawsuit from BMG Management claiming that their hit “Post To Be” is similar to Chris Brown’s Akon assisted single “Came To Do”, from his 2013 album “X.” According to the Jasmine Brand, the company is requesting $300k as well as an injunction preventing him from profiting off their work. Ironically, Brown was featured on Omarion’s single “Post To Be!.” However, the company claims that the song wasn’t written by Chris Brown, but by multiple song writers. They also state that one of the writers, Redwine, assigned 50% of the rights to the song to BMG. They claim that Omarion’s song is similar to Brown’s in melody, beat placements, rhythmic durations and pitches. While the thought of singer R Kelly doing a Christmas album may have never occurred to many, fans of the crooner will be happy to know that he’s preparing a holiday album titled “12 Nights Of Christmas” for release. He shared the album art on Instagram over the weekend, which shows him sitting by the fireplace with stockings hung by the chimney with care; he wears a smoking jacket while holding a cigar and a glass of dark liquor as he jovially lounges in front of a Christmas tree. Neither a track list nor release date have been announced. From Nov. 3-6, the Soul Train Awards Weekend will take over the Mandalay Resort and Casino with 4 days of performances, concerts, an outdoor day party and exclusive late night parties, all in preparation for the 2016 Soul Train Music Awards on Sunday, Nov 6. Erykah Badu will return as an awards show producer, writing show content and comedy sketches. Additional talent and events for the forthcoming Soul Train Weekend 2016 will be announced soon. Rapper Lil Wayne’s forthcoming memoir “Gone Til November: A Journal Of Rikers Island”, will not only give readers a deep look into the New Orleans native’s eight month prison term on a gun case in 2010, but will also recount how he playfully pronounced two other inmates husband and husband in a makeshift, jokey, ceremony with tissue decorations, cookies and 13 bottles of Gatorade. “Gone Til November” will hit book stores on Oct. 11. Southern hip hop artist Yelawolf shared the visual for his single “Daylight” on Thursday. The song is featured on the soundtrack for the film “The Magnificent Seven”, which was released Friday. Before the visual arrived, Eminem previewed the Western action film while tracks played in the background. The track highlights Yelawolf’s Alabama roots, as do the largely focused whiskey focused lyrics. The clip shows the rapper and his band holing up in a cozy cabin, while rain drips off the roof. It’s definitely worth listening to.

Waiting in the wings is the second single “Push It On Me”, featuring Trey Songz, which will be available on September 30. Both tracks will appear on Chocolate Droppa’s forthcoming project “What Now?
