It’s been announced that Grammy award winning singer Jill Scott will pay tribute to country singer/songwriter Shania Twain at the CMT Artist of the Year Awards. Scott will be performing along side Kelsea Ballerini and Meghan Trainor. Fans can watch the singer perform tonight 9/8c on CMT from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The tribute comes after Scott’s sold out North American tour which made stops in New York City, Boston, Atlanta, Miami and other cities. Michel’le’s Lifetime Network biopic “Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le” had millions glued to their television screens over the weekend. According to Deadline, “Surviving Compton” drew 2.3 million viewers and was cable’s top non sports telecast in total viewers. The made for cable film was the No. 1 program among adults 18-49 (1.1M), adults 25-54 (1.2M), women 25-54 (934K) and women 18-49 (836K). In addition, the hour long special “Beyond The Headlines: Michel’le”, which followed the premiere airing of the film, averaged 1.9 million viewers, retaining 83% of those who watched “Surviving Compton.” The film even broke social media as the most talked about program on Twitter and Facebook that day with 216,000 people generating 506,000 interactions. For fans wondering where she’s been, singer Avery Sunshine has released a new single titled “Come Do Nothing.” The track is a funky, jazz flavored number about how love makes us think and act crazy. Sunshine has been racking up accolades since the release of her debut album in 2010. Industry veterans like Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle and Babyface have all sought out Sunshine’s talent. Avery Sunshine will release her sophomore album for Shanachie Entertainment in February 2017. Shortly after turning his computer science major into a full fledged music career, rapper Daye Jack has left his NYU days behind and gone on to write under the tutelage of mentor Max Martin, creating his own songs. For his latest effort, he’s taken the finale from his “Surf The Web” EP and thrown a party for the visual, using it as a metaphor for the world wide web. He told Billboard magazine that the visual is a party with a lot of things going on and the viewer is trying to find their way through it all, much the way the web works. Having already placed songs on the FX hit “Atlanta” as well as the Fox hit “Empire”, it’ll be interesting to see what he does next. Although it’s A$AP Ferg’s birthday today, he’s giving fans new music as a gift. The rapper has recruited fellow A$AP mob member A$AP Rocky and Philadelphia rapper Lil Uzi Vert for the remix of his single “New Level”, which is hotter than the original. Future’s verse remains in tact while Rocky and Uzi Vert drop hot bars. Ferg’s next project, which is reportedly finished, will contribute to  the forthcoming A$AP Mob album “Cozy Tape Vol. 1.” Two tracks from the album will be premiered at the London screening of the short film “Money Man”, from Rocky’s creative collective AWGE. “Money Man” will premiere tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. EST.
