Quincy Matthew Hanley, known professionally as Schoolboy Q, is a rapper from South Central Los Angeles CA. He is also a member of the rap collective Black Hippy, along with label mates and fellow California based rap artists AB-Soul, Jay Rock, and Kendrick Lamar. He began his career by writing his first verse at age 16. He later began working with Top Dawg Entertainment, recording in their House of Pain studio and collaborating with their artists. He released his first mixtape “Schoolboy Turned Hustla” in 2008. He officially signed with the label in 2009, where the group Black Hippy was formed. He has released several albums, including “Setbacks”, “Habits & Contradictions” and “Oxymoron.”
