musical-notesFans will be happy to know that singer/rapper/songwriter Lauryn Hill’s “The MLH Caravan: A Diaspora Is Calling!” will be extended with additional dates. “The MLH Caravan: A Diaspora Is Calling!” will run through April 2017 and showcase artist performances from various parts of the African diaspora. Miami will get a second date, as will various venues on the East Coast and in the Midwest. Hill also shared a video of her performance of “Lost Ones/Zombie” from Sept. 8 where she was joined on stage by Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 at the Fela Kutie tribute in Paris. Well, this is precious. According to E! News, singer Janet Jackson will reportedly name her forthcoming child in tribute to her late brother, King of Pop, Michael Jackson. In addition, Jackson will reportedly give birth soon, and is doing well according to her doctors. Hopefully, fans will get an opportunity to see photographs of the infant after birth. Singer Mary J. Blige took time off from her “King and Queen of Hearts Tour” with Maxwell to make an appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” Blige performed her single “Thick Of It” and discussed what lead to the demise of her marriage. Back in July, Blige filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years, Kendu Isaacs, citing irreconcilable differences. Blige told “GMA’s” Robin Roberts that she wasn’t getting any respect, therefore, she had to move on. Her performance of the Jazmine Sullivan penned “Thick Of It” was a rousing one. Here’s wishing her the best. While out promoting his 12th studio effort “#MYNAMEISJOETHOMAS”, singer/songwriter Joe stopped by “The Breakfast Club” for an interview with Envy, Angela and Charlamagne The God. In the  mist of discussing his latest body of work, the crooner also talked about writing and performing the theme song to the show “Power”, his thoughts on the outcome of the 2016 presidential election and the importance of touring. Fans can expect to see Joe on another collaborative tour in 2017. He also discussed the struggles that many of today’s R&B artists encounter and if and when R&B will ever be considered cool again within mainstream music. It’s great to see him back on the scene.  The Ultra Music Festival has just announced it’s 2017 lineup, and it’s an amazing one. In addition to  The Prodigy, other artists scheduled to appear at the event include Justice, Major Lazer, Underworld and Ice Cube. This is Phase 1, of course. DJ headliners include favorites like Axwell & Ingrosso, DJ Snake and a reunion from Sasha and Digweed. Rapper Lupe Fiasco is cranking up in intensity with his forthcoming project “Drogas Light” scheduled for release in the new year. For this album, the rapper guides listeners through a nationwide expedition regarding guns, drugs and economic hardships. The rapper will also be touring until Dec. Fans can expect “Drogas Light” to hit stores in early 2017.
