Singer Joyce Wrice’s new single “Rocket Science” is quickly turning the emerging singer into an artist to watch. The song, which was released as a double sided single along with “Play Pretend” last week, has the songstress collaborating with fellow singer/songwriter Kay Franklin for a groove about confronting your feelings for the one you’re with, head on. MNDSGN produced the track, which has an intergalatic/neo soul vibe. “Rocket Science” has received a great deal of attention, and in an effort to capitalize on a potential radio single, Wrice’s label, Akashik Records, has released a set of visuals for “Rocket Science.” Sleek, colorful and retro, the video takes place in outer space with Kay Franklin piloting a spaceship until he’s approached by a vessel, one which finds him observing Wrice moving and grooving as she hypnotizes him with her voice. Akashik Records co-founder Alima Jenkins should be created for taking a very creative approach to directing the four minute clip. “Rocket Science” pulls off the throwback because it is a throwback. The video was shot using VHS and 16 mm film, and alien concept in the digital age. With the airing of the “2016 Soul Train Awards” quickly approaching, BET and Centric have revealed the second year of the “Soul Cypher.” Returning hostess/DJ Erykah Badu will welcome keyboardist Robert Glasper, along with R&B stars Gladys Knight, Ne-Yo, Tyrese and Angie Stone to drop some soulful bars. The 2016 “Soul Train Awards” will air on BET and Centric Sunday,  Nov. 27. Singer/songwriter Joe’s career is proof that an R&B artist can achieve longevity in the music industry. His latest studio effort, “#MYNAMEISJOETHOMAS”, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart, selling 17,000 copies the week ending Nov. 17, according to Nielsen Music. This marks his 16th career entry and 11th top-five placing set on the 51-year-old chart. Joe entered the Billboard charts in 1993 with his debut album “Everything”, landing at No. 16 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop albums chart. His subsequent 11 studio albums have all landed in the top five of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums Chart. Continued success to you Joe! Rapper Gucci Mane proposed to long time girlfriend Keyshia Ka’oir  at an Atlanta Hawks game last night, with the whole thing broadcast on the kiss cam for the entire stadium to see. The couple met in 2010, when Gucci requested Ka’oir appear in a music video. They began dating soon after. Gucci once told the New York Times that Ka’oir has been there through thick and thin. While the Atlanta Hawks lost 112-94 to the New Orleans Pelicans, the couple definitely won the night. Rapper Pusha T celebrated the anniversary of Kanye West’s “My Beautiful, Dark, Twisted Fantasy” with a heartfelt note on Instagram reminiscing over the album’s creation. The album helped launch the careers of Pusha T and Nicki Minaj. Five years later, Pusha T was named president of  G.O.O.D. Music. Pusha ending with suggesting that the two do it all again soon. Let’s hope that they do.
