Monica used a photograph which was also posted to Hathaways’s Instagram profile and thanked singersrom.com for announcing her Grammy nominations with a caption expressing her admiration for the singer. Hathaway, already a 3 time Grammy winner, has been nominated for two additional Grammys. Best R&B Album for “Lalah Hathaway Live” and Best Traditional R&B Performance for her single “Angel.” The 59th Annual Grammy Awards will air on February 12, 2017. Ceelo Green fans suffered a scare on Saturday when a video of a cell phone exploding near his ear went viral. However, the Gnarls Barkley star says he’s doing well. Green elaborated on the incident by saying that what fans saw was video of a forthcoming project currently shooting called Gnarly Davidson. It’s intended to set up and introduce the character identity. The surveillance video that became cause for concern to fans showed Green in the lab, talking on his phone. Seemly out of nowhere, the phone exploded and the singer was knocked to the ground on impact. Some wondered what impact it would have on the star. Others wondered if he’d been killed in the incident. At any rate, Green added that he intends to release the music and assured fans that he’s just fine. No word on when the project will be released, however. Kelly, Erykah Badu and a joint set for Ja Rule and Ashanti. Jhene Aiko, Brandy, Monica, The Dream, Kelis, Mya, The Internet and Willow Smith will also appear. Other R&B artists on the bill include Ameriie, Ro James, BJ The Chicago Kid, Lloyd, Eric Bellinger, Jon B. and the reunited Pretty Ricky. SOULQUARIUS has also included something for rap fans as well. DMX, Too Short, Suga Free and Baby Bash are all scheduled to perform, along with Pharcyde and the Ying Yang Twins. According to Adidas, there was supposed to be a launch for Portland Trail Blazer and rapper Damian Lillard’s new signature sneaker on Friday. But thanks to some surprise guest, the shoe launch became a full fledged rap concert, in the middle of the afternoon, in a high school gym on less. According to Lillard, returning to his high school alma mater was a no brainer and he received the support of Adidas. As students entered the gym on Friday afternoon, they noticed a stage and light rig had been assembled on the basketball floor. Joining Lillard were rap stars Fetty Wrap and Lil Uzi Vert. By the time DJ Esco took the stage for a quick set, the students were in a frenzy. Without question, the event is something they won’t forget anytime soon. Chance The Rapper appeared on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend, and he allowed fans to pick songs for his second turn as musical guest. The end result was “Finish Line” for his first performance, which featured Noname. He retuned with the single “Same Drugs”. Seated at the piano, accompanied by a chamber orchestra and backup singers, Chance closed the show with a killer performance.
