Singer Johnny Gill was born and raised in Washington DC and began his career singing gospel with the family group Johnny Gill and the Wings of Faith. He was signed to Atlantic Records as a teenager and recorded several albums. In 1988, Gill joined the group New Edition. He later released the album “Johnny Gill” in 1990. The album was a huge success and featured the hits “Rub You The Right Way”, “Fair Weather Friend” and “My, My, My.” He followed that effort with the albums “Provocative” and “Let’s Get The Mood Right.”
