Taalib Johnson, known professionally as Musiq Soulchild, is a singer/songwriter/producer whose style blends R&B, funk, blues, jazz, gospel and hip hop. He was born and raised in Philadelphia PA and began his career building a reputation for being musically gifted by beat boxing for MC’s, freestyling on the open mic circuit, scatting at jazz clubs, or just performing for strangers on the street, which is where his stage name originated. He has also been featured in television print ads for McDonald’s , Nike, Coca-Cola and The Gap. He also made special appearances on the sitcoms “The Game” and “All Of Us.” He released his debut album “Aijuswanaseing” in 2000, which produced the hit single “Just Friends”. “Love” followed a short time later. In 2002, he released his sophomore effort “Juslien”, which debuted at No 1 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum. It produced the hits “Half Crazy” and “Don’t Change.” “Soulstar” was released in 2003, and contains the hits “Forthenight” and “Whoknows.” “Luvamusiq” followed in 2007 and contained the singles “B.U.D.D.Y.”, Teach Me” and “Make You Happy.” “MusiqInTheMagiq” followed in 2011. “Life On Earth” was released in 2016.
