Last year, legendary R&B group Envogue (original members Cindy Herron-Braggs, Terry Ellis and newcomer Rhona Bennett) returned to the spotlight with the single “Deja Vu”, and planned album “Electric Café.” Now, the group has signed a new deal with Entertainment One to push the project forward, complete with an international spring tour and U.S summer tout to support. The trio will perform at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival in South Africa this week then head to Europe next month. Regarding the new album, member Cindy Herron-Braggs stated during an interview that the album will have the signature Envogue sound, but the music has evolved because the members of the group have evolved. It’s great to see the ladies back on the scene. Three time Grammy winning singer/songwriter Jill Scott will be hitting the road soon as well. She’s announced a set of 2017 Summer tour dates. After more than a year since the release of her fifth studio effort “Woman”, the singer will begin her tour on June 23 in Hampton VA and visit Baltimore, New Orleans, New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles and other cities before wrapping up in Temecula CA on August 18. Scott will perform music from her latest album “Woman” in addition to her classic hits. Tickets are available via Ticket Master. Today, TIDAL and singer Maxwell have released the visual for his latest single “Gods”, a smooth sounding track from his fifth studio album “blackSUMMER’s Night.” In the video, the crooner takes the viewer on a journey through a lit up city. Shot in various areas of Los Angeles, the beautiful clip is worth watching. Fans can watch by signing up to TIDAL. Fox has won a hot pitch for a musical inspired by rapper/producer Pharrell Williams. The project, titled “Atlantis”, has been described as a Romeo & Juliet style story with a music element inspired by Williams’ childhood in Virginia Beach. Williams and producer Gil Netter took the pitch out a few weeks ago, engendering interest from several studios as they watched Lionsgate enjoy the success of “La La Land” and coveted their own musical number. Fox snagged it last week. Michael Mayer, known for his work on Broadway with “Spring Awakening” and “American Idiot”, will direct. Williams and Mimi Valdes will produce via I Am Other while Netter will produced via Netter Films. Williams was born in Virginia Beach VA and has a noteable career as a rapper/singer/songwriter/producer. He and partner Chad Hugo have produced several hits for other artists as the Neptunes.
