Make no mistake about the power of social media. For those unaware, last month, a Tumblr post went viral; it was a photograph of singer Rihanna and actress Lupita Nyong at a fashion show in 2014 for Paris Fashion Week. The caption mentioned the two possibly working on a film together. The tweet went viral and even got to the celebrities themselves, who liked the concept. Twitter later brought director Ava DuVernay and “Insecure” creator Issa Ray into the conversation, both of whom seemed interested in working together. Well, a month has passed since the tweet was sent and it looks like the man/woman tweeter will get their wish. The movie is a go. Entertainment Weekly has reported that Netflix has obtained the project based on that meme which will star Rihanna and Lupita Nyong as a female duo who scam the wealthy out of their money. The still untitled film will be directed by Ava DuVernay and Issa Ray is currently in talks to write the script. The film will put black women at the forefront, as they’ll be both in front of and behind the camera as major players. Here’s hoping the meme creator receives a portion of the profits. As some may have heard, 22 people were killed and 59 others injured when a suicide bomber set off two bombs shortly after the end of singer Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester UK. Grande has reportedly been in “hysterics” since the incident, and tweeted a message following the tragedy stating that she was broken. The 23-year-old singer has understandably cancelled the remainder of the European leg of her tour, which included a show at London’s O2 Arena scheduled for Thursday as well as stops as in Switzerland, Belgium, Poland and Germany. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. During a recent interview with hip hop publication XXL, rapper T.I revealed that he’s working on  a joint project with singer Trey Songz, in addition to his tenth studio effort “Dime Trap” and a Grand Hustle compilation slated for release this year. The Atlanta rapper also revealed that he has other joint projects in the works as well, namely a joint project with fellow Atlanta rapper Jeezy titled “Dope Boy Academy”, adding that the two have completed four songs and want to present the project correctly. Regarding working with Trey Songz, Tip said that the duo were initially set to record a song titled “Lady Killers.” At any rate, while there’s no word on whether he and Songz have begun recording, considering the fact that he’s in the mist of  a pending divorce, it’s apparent that Tip is throwing himself into his work. Back in December 2016, a snippet of rapper 21 Savage’s single “Issa” hit the world wide web. Now, the Wheezy and Narcos produced single, which features guest appearances by Drake and Young Thug has been released. Savage has turned what was once a trendy phrase into a full fledged track. For over six minutes, Savage, Young Thug and Drake play hot potato with the flow and take turns tackling the hypnotic beat. Earlier this month, Savage tweeted a cryptic message that left many speculating whether it was referring to the release of his debut album “Issa Album” or a follow up to his critically acclaimed mixtape “Savage Mode” with Metro Boomin. We’ll have to wait and see what transpires.
