For those who are unaware, here’s what the original members of Destiny’s Child are up to. Beyoncé Knowles just gave birth to twins. Kelly Rowland has been working on a book and other business ventures, LeToya Luckett has branched out into acting in addition to releasing a new album. And LaTavia Roberson? Well, she’s exploring new sounds with the single “Best Time Of Your Life”, which is slated to be released Friday. The song is being called a promotional track and is not for sale at this time. Roberson took to Instagram to announce the release of the single and thank all involved with its creation. The track contains no vocals and there’s been no word on when or if an album will be available. Multi-Grammy award winning singer/songwriter India Arie has announced the release of her forthcoming EP “SongVersation: Medicine”, which is due June 30. An extension of her 2013 effort “SongVersation”, the seven song EP is her offering in these tumultuous times. The EP’s first single, “I am Light”, appeared on the “Beyond The Lights” soundtrack. Another track from the album, “Breathe”, was performed with Erykah Badu during the “2016 Soul Train Awards.” The singer will very busy this summer. She will make several appearances at the “2017 Essence Music Festival” on July 4 in New Orleans LA. Kicking off a weekend of festivities, she’ll perform on the main stage on Friday, June 30, at the Merceeds-Benz Superdome. On Saturday, July 1, India will appear at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center for an interview on Center Stage as well as participate in the Beauty Expo. Concluding the weekend on July 2, India will perform a SongVersation she wrote especially for the Essence crowd, where she’ll bring song and storytelling to life for attendees on the Empowerment Stage for the Moment of Power, to be followed by a fan meet and greet at the Palmers booth. Slip-N-Slide Records signee Teenear has started the summer by finding  a new love. The singer/songwriter debuted the visual for her single “Something Else.” Filmed in her hometown Miami, Teenear and her significant other spend the day enjoying their neighborhood lifestyle. The single, produced by Velous, describes meeting someone unexpectedly and discovering new things in life and love. During an interview, Teenear added that it’s about someone coming into your life and making such an impact, that you don’t want to let them go. The visual is well put together and is worth watching. In April, rapper Young Thug announced his forthcoming project “Easy, Breezy, Beautiful, Thugger Girls”, but when the album was released on June 16, the titled was changed to “Beautiful Thugger Girls.” He released a promotional video depicting women being beaten by other women wearing ski masks with “E.B.B.T.G.” stitched into the forehead. One woman is beaten with a baseball bat. The video stirred quite a bit of controversy. Especially with the company. Cover Girl released a statement saying that permission to use the slogan for his original title and  video was never requested. The company added that the album isn’t aligned with its values and it finds violence unacceptable.  So far, no comment from Young Thug.
