Singer/television personality K Michelle is stepping into the spotlight in a big way! Known for sporting eye catching wigs and weaves, some in red, and most recently, neon green, Michelle has decided to forfeit hair this summer, opting for a cooler look, nearly bald. She debuted her new shaven hair do via Instagram. While not everyone has the right head shape to sport a shaved head, she looks gorgeous. K. Michelle has been in the studio preparing her fourth studio album. She can also be heard on rapper Trina’s new single “If It Ain’t Me.” When it was announced that singer Mary J. Blige would be curating the first ever “Ladies Night” concert during the 2017 Essence Music Festival, it was inevitable that attendees would witness performances from some of the greatest female voices in music. In addition to an amazing line up of artists, the audience was also treated to a sing off. Legendary singer Chaka Khan performed a solo set on the main stage. During the performance of the final song of her set “I’m Every Woman”, Khan surprised the crowd by bringing singer Jazmine Sullivan on stage. The crowd cheered, but wasn’t prepared for what was to come. Sullivan carried the second verse, then Mary J. Blige, Lalah Hathaway and Ari Lennox walked on stage for the chorus. After singing together, Khan passed the microphone down the line for solos from each woman. Hathaway and Sullivan did classic jazz scats, Lennox performed a beautiful melody and Blige belted out her soulful vocals. The amazing event ended on a high note. Musician/producer Sampha worked on several tracks on singer Solange’s album ‘A Seat At The Table”, but at the UK’s Glastonbury  Music Festival, the artist decided to cover one of the songs he didn’t work on. The piano man performed a cover of the single “Cranes In The Sky” live for BBC Radio 1. Solange later tweeted her approval of his performance.
