Legendary singer Mariah Carey’s rise to fame will soon be documented in a drama series. According to deadline.com, Starz is developing a fictional, scripted series based on Carey’s life experiences. Carey will executive produce the series along with longtime friend Brett Ratner and writer Nina Coleman. The drama, written by Coleman, is set in 1986 New York City and chronicles the rise of a mutli-talented 16-year-old bi-racial girl; an aspiring singer/songwriter who survived a difficult childhood to become the biggest selling female artist of all time. Carey’s rise to prominence was game changing. She secured 5 consecutive Hot 100 No. 1s in 1990-91, including “Vision Of Love”, “Love Takes Time”, “Someday”, “I Don’t Wanna Cry” and “Emotions.” Carey will return to her Las Vegas residence and embark on a North American summer tour with Lionel Richie.
