inPrior to the premiere of Freeform’s “Grownish”, the spinoff to “Blackish”, cast members Chloe x Halle released the visual “Grown”, which they wrote and produced for the show. Filled with playful social media moments, the sister duo sing about experiencing feelings of personal growth and maturity. “Grownish” will premiere January 3, 2018 on Freeform. Chloe x Halle released their mixtape “The Two Of Us” earlier this year. Underground R&B artist Joyce Wrice recently graced the “Colors” studio stage, delivering an inspired performance. While on a European tour earlier this month, she visited Berlin where she performed her latest single “Good Morning.” Without a doubt, she has a bright future ahead of her. R&B diva SZA closes 2017 with her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart while The Weeknd rises 3-1. All Billboard rankings are dated January 3, instead of a usual Saturday, as Billboard is adjusting chart and magazine issue dates. SZA’s role is the first for a woman following a shut out in 2017. It’s the first since Rihanna’s “Needed Me” topped the Billboard charts in 2016. Congratulations to her! Hip hop magazine The Source closes 2017 with it’s Power 30 issue. In the issue, the magazine profiles “Power” players in hip hop from a business standpoint. Music executive Jimmy Iovine and rapper/producer Dr. Dre grace one of the two covers. Both gentlemen have achieved a great deal not only over the past year, but during the decade. Congratulations to them both.

inSinger Jacob Lattimore closes 2017 with his new single “What You Wanna Hear.” On the sultry midtempo number, the crooner tells an ex that their relationship is dead while reminding her of things she didn’t do that his current flame does. It appears that fans can expect a project from the handsome singer in 2018. Following the singles “My Woman”, “Beat It Down” and “Hold It Down”, production team Tone Tuesdays keeps the momentum going with a brand new offering from new comer Tone Stith. The smooth, laid back track is titled “Let You Go”, which features heavy electric guitar chords. The crooner sings about a situation where he has to let his significant other go because of her love for another man. Tone Stith has been giving fans some loosie tracks for a month, as he prepares for the new year, which is sure to bring more from the rising star. “Let You Go” is worth a listen. Malachiae Warren, known professionally as Chiae, celebrated Christmas with the release of the single and visual “Promise.” In the video, the Atlanta native assures his lady that he’s dedicated to her and wants to make her happy. After she questions him about an unknown number in his phone, the pair cruise the streets in his convertible Mustang as he performs the song for her against a mural painted wall. The Motown Records signee has more music in store for 2018. Singer/actress KeKe Palmer showcases the right combination of attitude and sass in the visual for her new single “Pre-Game.” In the fashion driven clip, the multitalented entertainer shows what she’s working with via a photo shoot before getting together with her girls for a wardrobe makeover and an outing pre-game. She later hits a club with her girls and shows off her choreographed dance moves. Palmer has indicated that the clip is for fans who have been waiting patiently for the new music she has coming in 2018. Palmer is a 15-year show business veteran, who has appeared in over 21 films and award winning television shows. She’s set to star in the Lionsgate film “#TwoMinutesOfFame.” Rapper MadeInTYO announced a collaborative project with producer Metro Boomin at SXSW back in 2015, stating that it would be out “soon.” Two years later, fans finally get their first taste of the venture with the single “MadeInBoomin.” The title track of the forthcoming album is high energy and is backed by hi-hats and a heavy drum beat. MadeInTYO even came up with the collaborative name for the duo as well. The pair collaborated in 2015 on the single “Free Throw.” Metro Boomin has also produced hits for Drake, Migos, 21 Savage, Big Sean and Future. Rapper Tyga’s date is interrupted by assassins in the visual for his single “Boss Up.” The clip combines animated visuals with real life, as he and a woman dressed in red live it up in Japan, eating sushi and drinking champagne in a penthouse. Tyga and his lady friend later defeat a group of Japanese sword bearing fighters sent to kill the rapper. The loverbirds end the night by riding off together on a motorcycle. The high action animated scenes were designed by Pixel Pirate Studios, who also worked on rapper Desiigner’s video “Zombie Walk. “Boss Up” is taken from Tyga’s latest studio effort “BitchI’mTheShit2”, which was released in July.
