
Janet Jackson’s DJ, DJ Aktive, has paid homage to his boss with several hip hop remixes titled “Janet Remixes”, a 30 minute mesh of Janet’s vocals with hip hop beats. For example, Aktive mixed “Got It Til It’s Gone” with the Nicki Minaj hit “Chun-Li” and Drake’s “Nice For What” with “That’s The Way Love Goes.” The project keeps Janet’s legacy alive, as she hasn’t released any new music lately, other than 2016’s “Unbreakable.” Following the success of the single “Boo’d Up”, Ella Mai has announced her new single “Trip” via Twitter. The single will be released on Aug. 3. The British singer also released the artwork for the single. Along with announcing the new single, the songstress also revealed that her debut album is coming soon. It will be the follow up to her 2017 EP “Ready.” Star Martin has followed up her May 2018 release “Walls” with the island-infused single “Green Light”, a collaboration with Marley Waters. In the accompanying music video, the singer/songwriter shows off dance moves while delivering seductive lyrics and vocals. Star Martin, God-Daughter of the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, was born in St Louis, IL to a family of musicians. However, instead of cultivating her talent in a Baptist church, she gained experience with studio work. Inspired by Beyonce and Lopes, Star has based her lyrical and artistic approach on the following tenants; Authenticity, Experience and Heritage. She obtained a Degree in Film and Dramatic Art from Kim Dawson Conservatory in Dallas, TX. Last month, 6Lack previewed his forthcoming album with the unveiling of his latest single “Switch.” The Joel Little produced track features the uncredited vocals of Ty Dolla $ign. On “Switch”, 6Lack sings about finding accountability in certain situations by considering another perspective. 6Lack recently broke down the song’s lyrics and meaning on the hit series “Verified.” Jessie Reyez has delivered the music video for her single “Apple Juice.” Directed by Philip Harris, the clip follows Reyez around Nice, France and has a grainy, lo-fi nostalgic feel. Produced by Tim Suby and Fred Ball, the song is a ballad about learning to love and the challenges faced. Reyez will be releasing new music in anticipation of her forthcoming Fall EP, the follow up to her debut EP “Kiddo.” After much anticipation and many fan theories based on the release date of “Astroworld”, rapper Travis Scott put rumors to rest this afternoon by announcing that his latest musical effort will be available on Friday via Twitter. “Astroworld” will be the follow up to his 2016 album “Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight.” Earlier this year, Scott joined forces with Kanye West and Lil Uzi Vert on the single “Watch.” The song reached No. 16 on the Hot 100. After announcing the “KOD Tour” in May, rapper J. Cole has added Jaden Smith, Earthgang and his alter ego “Kill Edward” to the bill. The additions will be included with Cole and his opener, Young Thug, beginning Aug. 9 in Miami and throughout the three month run. Although fans have seen Jaden Smith and Earthgang perform before, this will be the first time that fans will witness Cole’s alter ego “Kill Edward” on stage. “Kill Edward” was featured on the “KOD” album tracks “/The Cut Off” and “Friends.”
