Singer Ariana Grande’s latest studio effort, “Sweetner”, has topped the Billboard 200 chart, making it her third project to accomplish this feat, selling 231,000 units. “Sweetner” is also the second-largest debut for an album by a woman following rapper Cardi B’s “Invasion Of Privacy”, which sold 255,000 units. Rapper Travis Scott’s “Astroworld”, which has topped the chart for the last two weeks, falls to number two, while Nicki Minaj’s “Queen” shifts from number two to three. Drake’s “Scorpion” and Post Malone’s “Beerbongs And Bentleys” round out the top five. Elsewhere on the chart, Aretha Franklin’s Greatest Hits compilation sold 52,000 units this past week, climbing to number six, giving the late Queen of Soul her highest charting album in 50 years. “30 Greatest Hits” was released in 1985, but didn’t chart until 2012, where it spent two weeks on the chart, peaking at number 117. Singer Victoria Monet has delivered the visual for her new single “New Love.” The 90’s inspired clip captures the easy, breezy vibe of summer, which includes dancing and drinking at a backyard party. The clip also shows Monet enjoying time with friends as well as her eye candy. Directed by A. JaQuel Knight, “New Love” offers a fun, girl next door vibe. Monet’s fourth EP will be released during the fourth quarter of 2018. Singer Jhene Aiko has been bringing her 2017 album “Trip” back home. She recently shared her latest jam session live from Fistcuff’s studio. While seated in a studio chair and holding a wireless microphone, Jhene became engrossed in the song’s vibe.  Most recently, Jhene released the YG remix of her single “Never Call Me.” Emerging singer/songwriter Jess Connelly has just released her new EP “JCon.” This independent artist has quickly gained a following in the Philippines as a leader of the R&B scene. The 13 track project includes the singles “”Call Me”, “Deep + Involved” and “Turn Me Down.” Part Filipino and part Australian, the classically trained vocalist began singing as a child and delved into songwriting at age 13. She was born in Australia and moved to the Philippines with her parents to start a new life. Growing frustrated with the music industry in a country that traditionally favors industry built pop stars, she set out to change that with her art. She has since released music that stayed with the norm and her artistry has become sought after by the entertainment industry in Manila. “JCon” is a collection of songs crafted by several producers in Manila and around the world. Touching on such topics as love personal growth through her raw honesty, Jess delivers a project that showcases her artistry to the fullest.

Harlem rapper Neek Buck has just released his remake of “Streets Is Watching.” The project commemorates the 20th anniversary of rapper Jay Z’s  musical film. The film features four songs inspired by Jay  Z’s original version. In 1998, Jay Z complied some unreleased music videos into a musical film that utilized songs from the the albums “Reasonable Doubt” and “In My Lifetime Vol. 1.” The two videos were shot before Jay Z was signed to a label. The film’s storyline takes place in Jay Z’s old Brooklyn neighborhood. Directed by Poke and Tone, Neek Buck’s version contains scenes of robbing, extorting, kidnapping and torture. Everything you’d expect from an urban thriller. Neek’s version differs in that it tells a story more fluidly than Jay’s. Fans will enjoy this one. R&B songstress LaToiya Williams has just released her new single “Save Your Love For Me”, taken from her forthcoming album “Blue Rose”, due out this fall. The track is a classic R&B ballad about hoping that a lover’s interest doesn’t wane during a separation. LaToiya Williams has helped craft hits for Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Anthony Hamilton, Wiz Khalifa, The Game, Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes, Talib Kweli, Young Buck and more. She has also appeared on the motion picture soundtracks and Jay Z’s “The Blue Print 2.1.” In addition, she appeared on Snoop Dogg’s “Doggystyle All Stars” album and has worked as a backup singer for Gladys Knight and Yolanda Adams, earning her a following eager to hear more from her. Singer Traci Braxton has released her latest studio effort “On Earth”, the followup to her 2014 effort “Crash & Burn.” The project features eight tracks, which Braxton calls a story of more mature material. Producers Chris N Teeb, David “Daveyboy” Lindsey handled the production on the album. The album is headed by the singles “Lifeline” and the Toni/Trina/Towanda assisted “Broken Things.” Jessie Reyez follows up her single “Apple Juice” by reigniting the fire behind her previous effort “Body Count.” On the new remix, she joins forces with Normani and Kehlani for a female empowerment anthem. Reyez intends to release one song at a time from her album “Being Human In Public.” Singer Vivian Green returns with the visual for her new single “Vibes”,  taken from her latest album “VGVI” released last October. The clip was shot in Townsend Georgia and directed by  photographer Derek Blanks. It highlights Vivian setting the vibes for paying customers at her day job while hustling hard for her music career. On  “VGVI”, Green enters new territory with the help of producer Kwame. Green also worked as an actress, having appeared in  film the De-Lovely and the television series American Dreams. Rapper Logic returns to his roots by bringing back his alter ego Young Sinatra for his latest single “The Return”, released today. The hard hitting track finds the Maryland native flowing over the production of frequent collaborator 6ix, who samples Nina Simone’s “Wild Is The Wind” into the melody. “The Return” inserts a chorus from Logic’s 2012 hit “Dear God.” Here, he boldly calls out Jay Z to collaborate on a song. He also has some choice words for President Donald Trump and is still waiting for a sponsorship deal from tennis shoe giant Nike. The Def Jam artist’s latest effort comes after his moving performance of “One Day” at the 2018 VMAs. Rapper Lil Yachty announced the Disrespect Tour yesterday, with the support of fellow rapper Bhad Bhabie. The U.S tour will begin on October 24 in Baltimore and visit Pittsburgh, Cleveland and New Orleans. Tickets go on sale today.
