In the 1980’s, R&B band Ready For The World took the music industry by storm with such hits as “Tonight”, “Deep Inside Your Love”, “Oh Sheila” and “Digital Display.” “Oh Sheila” was a huge crossover hit that reached #1 on the Billboard R&B, Pop, Dance and Video charts in one week. It also landed in the Guinness Book of World Records and was certified platinum. However, the group’s follow up singles didn’t receive the same recognition as previous efforts. After a long hiatus, Ready For The World has returned with the single “So Much Life.” The song is about a man appreciating what he loves about his significant other. While there’s no word on whether there’s an album in the works, it’s great to have the group back. SYCO/Columbia Records group PRETTYMUCH has just released a new single “Solita”, a collaboration with rapper Rich the Kid. “Solita” is a Latin inspired number that invokes the sounds of Spanish speaking cultures. Austin Porter, Brandon Arreaga, Edwin Honoret, Nick Mara, and Zion Kuwonu comprise the line up of PRETTYMUCH. Over the past year, the group has released the singles “”Would You Mind”, “Teacher”, “Open Arms” and “No More.” The group will embark on a headlining tour this fall. The Funktion Tour will begin on October 18 in Seattle WA and visit Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Toronto and others before it wraps up on November 18 in Boston MA. Tickets are on sale now. Mikhala Jene has released the single “Stay.” Taken from the singer/songwriter’s forthcoming debut album, “Carolina Blues”, due out on October 19, the sultry number finds Mikhala delivering lush vocals guaranteed to set the mood. The accompanying music video shows a topless Mikhala being intimate and seductive for the camera as she delivers the lyrics. With over 1.3 million views, Mikhala is telling the story of a small town girl with big dreams. The North Carolina native came to the attention of producer Deputy, who works with the singer on the upcoming project. August Alsina is back. He’s just released the video “Wouldn’t Leave”, which was released by Kanye West. In the clip, which he co-directed, the singer travels to a deserted and rundown housing community. While there, eyes filled with tears, he sings about a love that seems to be absent. Alsina is currently working on his third studio effort, the follow up to 2015’s ”
This Thing Called Life”, which he claimed was being held hostage by Def Jam Records. Jacquees is back with another remix. This time the Cash Money artist offers a remix of the Drake hit “Jaded.” Jacquees adds his own touch to the song on his abridged version, which is 90 seconds long. Last month, Jacquees released a remix of Ella Mai’s hit “Trip”, which became a fan favorite and earned millions of streams. The song was removed from Soundcloud and You Tube due to a copyright claim by Ella’s label. Jacquees has previously released “The Light”, by Ty Dolla $ign & Jeremih and last week he released “London” from his debut album 4275. Singer John Legend has just announced his first holiday album, which will be released by Columbia Records on October 26. Produced by Raphael Saadiq, the project features six original tracks  and four classic Christmas songs, including “What Christmas Means To Me”, featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, a duet with Esperanza Spaulding. To go with the announcement, the singer shared a trailer featuring footage from the packaging photo shoot and recording sessions as well as album snippets. His wife Chrissy Teigen and children, daughter Luna and son Miles, also make cameos. In support of the album, Legend will embark on the “A Legendary Christmas Tour.” The 25 date trek will begin on Nov.  15  in Clearwater FL and will visit Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles, and wrap up on Dec. 30 in San Diego. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday Oct. 5. A pre-sale is available via John’s website. Sheck Wes is poised to become one of the hottest new hip hop stars in the industry. After revealing that his debut album, “Mudboy”, was in the mixing stages last month, the Harlem native just announced that his highly anticipated debut project will be released Friday Oct. 5. The performer will also take his talents on the road as a supporting act on Travis Scott’s upcoming “Astroworld Tour.” The North American trek begins on Nov. 8.
