Anthony Ryan Leslie, known professionally as Ryan Leslie, is an American singer/songwriter/producer from Washington, DC. He began his career while attending Harvard University by working on music in a campus studio. He taught himself production techniques and developed his own musical style. In the summer of 2003, Leslie obtained a 30 day internship with producer Younglord. He contributed the single “Keep Giving Your Love To Me”, performed by Beyonce, and taken from the “Bad Boys 2” soundtrack. The soundtrack was supervised by Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was impressed with Leslie’s production style and offered Leslie a management contract upon meeting him. Under Combs’ management contract, Leslie worked on Bad Boy Records projects from Loon, Cheri Dennis, B5, New Edition and Danity Kane. In 2003, Leslie recorded his debut album, “Just Right”, and released the singles “The Way That U Move Girl” and “Used 2 Be”, a duet with rapper Fabulous. The album was never officially released due to creative differences between Leslie and his label. In 2006, Leslie returned to the studio to record his sophomore effort. He released the singles “Diamond Girl”, “Addiction” and “How It Was Suppose To Be.” He has released the albums “Just Right” (2005), “Ryan Leslie” (2008), “Transition” (2009), “Les Is More” (2012), “Black Mozart” (2013), “MZRT” (2015), “MZRT Lifetime Album” (2018) and “Fleurier Flows EP” (2019).
