Evelyn “Champagne” King is an American singer/songwriter/producer. She was born in the Bronx New York City and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She released her debut album “Smooth Talk” in 1977. The album featured the single “Shame”, which is her only top ten single on the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at #9. It also reached #7 on the Soul chart and #8 on the dance chart. The record was eventually certified gold. The album’s second single, “I Don’t Know If It’s Right”, reached #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #7 on the Soul chart. It’s her second certified gold single. In 1982, King released the album “Get Loose” which featured the #1 Soul single “Love Come Down.” The song also reached #1 on the dance chart and reached the UK Singles Chart top  ten, peaking at #7 for three weeks. King has released the albums “Smooth Talk” (1977), “Music Box” (1979), “Call On Me” (1980), “I’m In Love” (1981), “Get Loose” (1982), “Face To Face” (1983), “So Romantic” (1984), “A Long Time Coming (A Change Is Gonna Come)” (1985), “Flirt” (1988), “The Girl Next Door” (1989), “I’ll Keep A Light On” (1995) and “Open Book” (2007).
