Following her appearance at the tribute concert “Aretha! A Grammy Celebration For The Queen Of Soul” on CBS, singer/actress Jennifer  Hudson has received wonderful news. According to Deadline, the Oscar and Grammy winner will star in an Aretha Franklin biopic slated for release in 2020. The film will focus on Franklin’s rise from church choir standout to respected international superstar. Hudson is a vocal powerhouse and is the perfect choice for the role. The former American Idol finalist and The Voice coach earned praise for her portrayal of Effie White in the 2006 film Dreamgirls. Hudson also earned the stamp of approval of the subject. Hudson was requested by Franklin before her passing. The studio has high hopes for the film, which will be produced by Scott Bernstein. Khalid highlights young love in the music video for his new single, “Talk.” In the colorful clip, directed by Emil Nava, the singer is captured in several vibrant rooms while dancing and stunting for  his female admirer. Produced by Disclosure, “Talk” is the first single from Khalid’s forthcoming sophomore album, “Free Spirit”, due out April 5. The project also features the singles “Better” and “My Bad.” Khalid will screen the Free Spirit film on April 3. Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Maurice Fonson steps into the spotlight with the single “Dodging Bullets.” The song follows the single “You”, which he released last year. Fonson is preparing his EP “Dimensions 1”, which tells the story of his musical journey. Fonson has written songs for Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson. There’s a new rap group in hip hop and they call themselves Beast Coast. The lineup consists of members of Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers. The group unveiled their first collaboration yesterday titled “Left Hand.” The track features contributions from ten artists. Joey Bada$$, Nyck Caution, CJ Fly, Powers Pleasant and Kirk Knight all appear on the track. Flatbush Zombie members Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice and Erick Arc Elliott appear on the track along with UA’s AK The Savior and Issa Gold. If that isn’t enough, Joey Bada$$ took to Instagram to announce a group tour for Beast Coast. The Escape From New York Tour will include the aforementioned members and is slated to begin on July 23 in Seattle after a few festival dates. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday via Live Nation.
