Mario Dewar Barrett, known professionally as Mario, is an American singer/songwriter/producer/actor/model from Baltimore, MD. At age four, he indicated that he wanted to be a singer. In support of his dream, his mother bought him a karaoke machine. He later joined a musical group in Milford Mill Academy, where he attended school until tenth grade.  At age fourteen, he signed with music mogul Clive Davis’ J Records. In March 2002, he released  his debut album, “Mario”, which featured the single “Just A Friend 2002.” The song reached #1 on the charts. The follow up singles were “Braid My Hair” and “C’mon.” On December 7, 2004, he released his sophomore effort “Turning Point.” The album featured the singles “Let Me Love You”, “How Could You”, “Here I Go Again” and “Boom.” He has also released the albums “Go” (2007), “D.N.A.” (2009) and “Dancing Shadows.” (2018). In addition to music, Barrett has also worked as an actor, having appeared in such films as “Step Up”, “Freedom Writers”, “Uncle P” and “Destination Fame.”
