Shanice Lorraine Wilson-Knox, known professionally as Shanice, is an American singer/songwriter/actress/dancer. At age 9, Wilson appeared in a Kentucky Fried Chicken ad with jazz legend Ella Fitzgerald. In 1984, she appeared on the children’s program “Kids Incorporated.” At age 11, Wilson appeared on “Star Search.” Shortly thereafter, she was signed to A&M Records. In 1987, at age 14, Wilson released her debut album “Discovery.” It featured the singles “(Baby Tell Me) Can You Dance” and “No 1/2 Stepping.” In the summer of 1990, Wilson signed with Motown Records and released the album “Inner Child.” The album featured her best known single “I Love Your Smile.” It reached the top ten in 22 countries, including the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, in addition to reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also included a cover of the Minnie Riperton hit “Loving You”, which brought attention to her five octave vocal range. Wilson also released the albums “21 Ways To Grow” (1994), “Shanice” (1999) and “Every Woman Dreams” (2006). Wilson has also worked as an actress, having appeared in movies, television and on Broadway.
