The highly anticipated, long-delayed new single from R&B veterans Jon B. and Donell Jones has finally arrived. Titled “Understand”, the mid-tempo number contains smooth vocals, heartfelt, emotional melodies, and cleverly-written lyrics while showcasing the duo’s chemistry. The accompanying music video delivers a nostaglic 90s vibe as both artists are front and center with the camera. “Understand” is the first single from Jon B’s forthcoming album. Donell is also working on a new album. Jamaican singer Zia Benjamin, who has collaborated with Sean Paul and Major Lazer, returns with the new single, “Rudie.” On the eclectic offering, the songstress showcases her powerful vocals while providing an audacious ultimatum to her man; Zia demands that her lover take a back seat. “Rudie” blends several genres, including modern-day ska and soul, making for a finely tuned masterpiece. The track was produced by Grammy-nominated production duo Loudcity Music and Zj Sparks. Rising R&B songstress Nicole Bus continues to extend the reach of her single “You” with a hip hop remix featuring rapper Rick Ross. On the new remix, Ross compliments Bus’ raspy delivery with his classic grittiness, making for an enigmatic combination. Recently, the Dutch-born singer/songwriter debuted on Billboard’s Emerging Artists Chart and she’s currently #16 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs Chart. Rapper A$AP Ferg will headline an annual Michigan University concert to raise money for boosting educational accessibility. The A$AP Mob member will perform tomorrow at Hill Auditorium. The benefit caps Springfest, a day of on-campus events that includes other musical acts, interactive art installations, pop up shops and food trucks.
