Gabrielle Serene “Elle” Varner, known professionally as Elle Varner, is an American singer. She began playing instruments at age six, beginning with the flute, then later switched to piano and guitar. She dropped guitar and became a part of Alexander Hamilton High School’s Academy of Music’s Vocal Jazz Group. Upon her arrival, she learned about the complexity of the voice, jazz and jazz artists like Ella Fitzgerald. Varner was later admitted to the Grammy in the Schools Mentoring Program. Through this program, she was taken to Fox Studio, where she met mentor Kelly Burgos and Fox Music President Robert Kraft. Varner later attended the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music and graduated in 2008. In 2009, she signed with MBK/J-RCA Records along with a publishing deal with Sony Music. On August 6, 2011, Varner released her debut single “Only Wanna Give It To You”, which served as the first single from her debut album “Perfectly Imperfect.” The song reached #20 on the U.S. Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart. “Perfectly Imperfect” was released on August 7, 2012. Her sophomore effort, “4 Letter Word”, was shelved.
