Last year, singer PJ Morton hit the airwaves with a remake of the Bee Gees classic “How Deep Is Your Love”, which earned him a Grammy award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. Now, he’s picking up where he left off with a remake of the Gap Band classic “Yearning For Your Love.” This update contains more of what fans have come to expect from Morton; cozy D’Angelo background vocals, jazzy keyboard work and slick, finger popping beats. It’s an excellent take, one that upholds the silkiness of the original while complimenting the legacy of the original using newer, edgier riffs, but this offering, like Beyonce’s “Before I Let Go”, shouldn’t replace the Gap Band’s masterpiece. At any rate, fans will enjoy this one. Rapper T Grizzley unveiled the single “Sweet Thangs” on Friday. The track is the third single from the Detroit native’s forthcoming album “Scriptures”, which was produced entirely by Timbaland. Fans should give the track a listen. “Scriptures” will be released on June 7.
