Eric Lynn Wright, known professionally as Eazy E, was an American rapper/producer/entrepreneur from Los Angeles, CA. Known as the Godfather of Gangster Rap, he rose to prominence as a member of the rap group N.W.A, where he was known for pushing the boundaries of lyrical and visual content in mainstream popular music. In 1986, Wright formed Ruthless Records with manager Jerry Heller. Wright went on to form N.W.A with Dr. Dre, Arabian Prince, Ice Cube, DJ Yella and MC Ren. On November 6, 1987, the group released the compilation album “N.W.A. And The Posse.”  The album was later certified gold. On September 16, 1988, Wright released his debut album “Eazy Duz It”, which contained twelve songs. The album was labeled West Coast hip hop, gangster rap and later golden age hip hop. It sold 2.5 million copies in the United States and reached No. 41 on the Billboard 200. N.W.A later went on to release the landmark  album “Straight Outta Compton.” On March 26, 1995, Wright died of complications from HIV/AIDS. He was 31. On January 30, 1996, “Str8 Off Tha Streetz Of Muthaphunkin Compton” was released ten months after his death.
