Two years after the release of their album “ABA”, R&B duo Blaq Tuxedo returns to the spotlight with their self-titled album, “Blaq Tuxedo.” The nine track project features special guest appearances by Chris Brown, Eric Bellinger and Luke James. The album cover art shows the duo looking toward the California sunset with a shadow looming over it. The Grammy-nominated duo provides listeners with a 30-minute soundtrack with sultry vibes and a mystic tone throughout the playtime of the album. “I am Watermelon” and “Waterbed” showcase the more sexually provocative side of the album, while Blaq Tuxedo sings effortlessly. However, not every track is bedroom-centric. “Drop It” and “Jet Speed” are club bangers that add a West Coast vibe and a duality to the album. The production of the album has a dark, yet soothing feel. Rumor has it that a tour is in the works, however, it hasn’t been confirmed. Hopefully, an announcement will be made soon. Singer Ella Eyre returns to the airwaves with the single “Mama.” The songstress rose to prominence after being featured on Rudimental’s single “Waiting All Night” in 2014. The song won a Brit Award for British Song of the Year. She also won two MOBO awards, two platinum singles and a top five album. In 2018, she released “Answerphone”, which featured the production work of Banx and Ranx. It was a huge hit and earned one million streams. “Mama” was produced by Banx and Ranx, featuring Kiana Lede. The visual for the song takes a theatrical approach, showing the singer’s close relationship with family, as well as mistreatment by her significant other. Fans should stay tuned for more music from Ella Eyre. She recently signed with Island Records. The vocal powerhouse is well on her way to carving out her own niche in the music industry. Ashanti just joined the Afro Beat movement by releasing the single “Pretty Little Thing”, featuring genre veteran Afro B. The new single arrives a few weeks after Ashanti launched her bathing suit collection with online retailer Pretty Little Thing. Ashanti is currently working on a new album, due out later this year. The album will be the follow up to her 2014 release “Braveheart.” Late last week, R&B  veteran Mary J. Blige released the single “Know”, a song that pays tribute to women who work diligently to better themselves and their families. “Know” is the follow up to the singles “Stay With Me” and “Thriving”, featuring hip hop veteran Nas, with whom Blige is touring. There’s been no word on when Blige will release another album. Earlier this year, she received the Lifetime Achievement Honor at the 2019 BET Awards, where she performed a medley of her hits.
