Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, known professionally as Nas, is an American rapper/songwriter/entrepreneur/investor from Queensbridge, New York. He has released eight consecutive platinum and multi-platinum albums and sold over 30 million records world wide. He began his music career under the moniker “Kid Wave” before changing it to “Nasty Nas.”  and finally “Nas.”  In the late 1980s, he met producer Large Professor and went to the studio where Eric B. and Rakim were recording. When the duo wasn’t recording, he’d record his own material. However, none of it was ever released. In 1991, he made a special guest appearance on the Main Source single “Live At The Barbeque.” In 1992, he met MC Serch of 3rd Bass, who became his manager and helped him secure a recording contract with Columbia Records. In 1994, Jones released his debut album “Illmatic.” He also released the albums “It Was Written” (1996), “I Am” (1999), “Nastradamus” (1999), “Stillmatic” (2001), “God’s Son” (2002), “Street’s Disciple” (2004), “Hip Hop Is Dead” (2006), “Untitled” (2008), “Life Is Good” (2012) and “Nasir” (2018).
