Newcleus is an American elelctro/hip hop group that rose to prominence in the early 1980s. They’re primarily remembered for the singles “Jam-On’s Revenge” and “Jam O It.” As precursor to the group, Jam -On Productions was formed in Brooklyn in 1977 by Ben “Cozmo D” Cenac and Monique and Pierre “Pete” Angevin. The group played block parties in Brooklyn and by 1979 included Yvettte “Lady E” Cook, Monique Angevin and Bob “Chilly B” Crafton. The coming together of families inspired the name change to Newcleus. The band recorded several albums and singles and its music has been used in several video games, including Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX and Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2.
