Roc Nation signee Nicole Bus has created quite a buzz and shows no signs of slowing down. With a beautiful voice and soul to boot, she commands the stage with grace and nails interviews at every turn. With a sound that draws on the influences of Sade, Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill, she recently embarked on the “Let Love Tour” with Common and earned praise for her NPR Tiny desk performance. Additionally, she broke through with the single “You”, which held the #1 spot on the Billboard chart for five weeks, and added her to the list of Roc Nation artists who have a number one single on the charts. She recently released her debut album “Kairos”, which adds to the singer’s list of accomplishments. Japanese-African-American singer UMI just released the single “Sukidakara” and a accompanying music video. Sung primarily in Japanese, Sukidakara roughly translates “because I like you” in English. The song blends Japanese and English singing, which revolves around the narrative of trying to get a guy she likes to notice her. The official music video accompanies the seamless blend of languages and beautiful tune with a narrative in similar fashion. The song was written by UMI and produced by 8Rokeboy. UMI’s love of anime is showcased throughout the clip with her daydreaming and other occurrences in anime style drawing along with real-life situations with her crush. The cartoon visuals blend perfectly with real-life clips. The video was directed by Taofik Kolade and Will Kindrick, and produced by Susan Agostinelli. The song and video is the second offering from the forthcoming visual EP, “Love Language”, due out on October 30. UMI recently released the single “Love Affair.” Singer Mia Martina just released the single “DJ Saved My Life”, a remix of the dance classic originally recorded by In Deep. The song has a history of remakes, including a cover by Mariah Carey. On her rendition, the Canadian-born, Miami based songstress brings originality, remixing disco for modern pop and dance sounds. Mia tapped producer DJ Chino aka Breikthru for the remix, which will certainly fill dance floors across the country. Mia broke through in 2010 with the single “Stereo Love.” The song was nominated for a Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year in 2011. Since then, she’s earned 8 gold records, 2 platinum records, and topped charts all over the world.
