3rd Bass was an American hip hop group that rose to prominence during the 1980s. The group consisted of MC Serch (Michael Berrin), Prime Minister Pete Nice (Peter J. Nash) and DJ Richie Rich (Richard Lawson). Berrin and Nash were convinced to work together by producer Sam Sever in 1987. The two first performed as 3 The Hard Way, a name referenced in the song “Wordz Of Wisdom” before changing their name to 3rd Bass. In 1989, they released their debut album “The Cactus Album”, which was critically acclaimed and featured the single “The Gas Face.” In 1991, 3rd Bass released their sophomore effort, “Derelicts Of Dialect.” The album featured the single “Pop Goes The Weasel.” 3rd Bass disbanded in 1992 and again in 2000 after a short reunion.
