Austin Richard Post, known professionally as Post Malone, is an American rapper/singer/songwriter/producer. Rumor has it the name was a reference to NBA star Karl Malone, but Post later explained that Post is his last name, and he used a rap generator to get Malone. At age 16, Post uploaded his first mixtape “Young And After Them Riches.” Shortly thereafter, he and several producers formed the group BLCKVRD and recorded music together. They later moved into a house in the San Fernando Valley. While living in the San Fernando Valley, Post met 1st Down of FKI. Rex Kudo produced several tracks for Post, including “White Iverson”, a reference to NBA star Allen Iverson. In February 2015, Post uploaded the track to his Soundcloud account. On July 19, 2015, Post released the music video for “White Iverson.” After hitting one million views within a month of the release of “White Iverson”, Post began garnering attention from record labels. In August 2015, he signed a recording contract with Republic Records. On December 9, 2016, Post released his debut album, “Stoney.” He has released the albums “Beerbongs & Bentleys” (2018) and “Hollywood’s Bleeding” (2019).
