Malcolm James McCormick, known professionally as Mac Miller, was an American rapper/singer/songwriter/producer from Pittsburgh, PA. He began his music career in the city’s hip hop scene in 2007, at age fifteen. In 2010, he signed a recording contract with Pittsburgh-based independent label Rostrum Records, where he released the breakthrough mixtapes “K.I.D.S.” and  “Best Day Ever.” His debut album, “Blue Slide Park”, was the first independently released album to top the U.S Billboard 200 chart since 1995. In 2013, he founded the imprint Remember Music. Following the release of his sophomore effort, “Watching Movies With The Sound Off”, he left Rostrum Records and signed with major label Warner Brothers Records in 2014. While with the label, he released the albums “GO: OD AM” (2015), “The Divine Feminine” (2016), “Swimming” (2018) and  the posthumous “Circles” (2020). McCormick died of a drug overdose on September 7, 2018. He was 27.
