The Boogie Boys were an American hip hop group from Harlem, New York City. The group’s lineup consisted of William “Boogie Knight” Stroman, “Joe “Romeo J.D.” Malloy and Rudy “Lil Rahiem” Sheriff. They were the first hip hop group signed to Capitol Records and had a major hit in 1985 with the single “Fly Girl” and two successful albums. In 1988, Rudy “Lil Rahiem” Sheriff left the group, and soon after, it disbanded. The group were veterans of sampling using high end systems such as Synclavier, Fairlight, an Emulator and a Synergy. They released the albums “City Life” (1985), “Survival Of The Freshest” (1986) and “Romeo Knight” (1988).
