Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. are American singers who began their careers as members of the vocal group The 5th Dimension. The 5h Dimension charted with such hits as “Up, Up, And Away”, “Aquarius/Let The Sun Shine In” and “One Less Bell To Answer” among others. In 1975, McCoo and Davis began performing as a duo. They were signed to ABC Records where they recorded their debut album “I Hope We Get To Love In Time.” The album featured the title track and “You Don’t Have To Be A Star (To Be In My Show)”, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 100 in January 1977. McCoo and Davis were awarded a gold single and a gold album as well as a Grammy award for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. They recorded one more album for ABC in 1978, produced by Frank Wilson and containing the ballad “My Reason To Be.” The pair signed with CBS Records the following year and released their final album as a duo until October 2008 when they released “The Many Faces Of Love”, a collection of hit songs from the 1960s and 1970s. McCoo and Davis are married and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 26, 2019.
