Rhymesayers Entertainment signee Sa-Roc just released her latest album “The Sharecropper’s Daughter” after a brief hiatus. The project contains 15 tracks and features special guest appearances by Black Thought of The Roots, Styles P of The Lox, Saul Williams, Ledisi, Chronixx, and Sol Messiah among others. The lead single from the album, “Deliverance”, was released in August and co-produced by Al B Smoov and Evidence Of Dilated Peoples, while the second single, “r(E)volution”, was produced by Sol Messiah and released two weeks ago. Citing a diverse range of musical influences, including Billie Holiday, Outkast, Bad Brains, Nirvanna and Bojork, Sa-Roc derivers her name in homage to pioneering female rapper Sha Rock, who was the first female rapper to ever appear on wax in the late seventies and a member of the group Funky 4 +1. Sa-Roc continues to carry the legacy of Sha Rock with a powerful vocal delivery accompanied by a lyrical skill set not seen by many today, mixed with memorable and thought-provoking hooks.
