Trevor George Smith Jr., known professionally as Busta Rhymes, is an American rapper/singer/musician/producer/record executive/actor from Brooklyn, New York. Rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy gave Smith the moniker Busta Rhymes after NFL and CFL wide receiver George “Buster” Rhymes. Smith has received 11 Grammy Award nominations for his work. Smith began his career as a member of the hip hop group Leaders Of The New School. He went on to pursue a solo career and formed the record label Conglomerate along with the production team The Conglomerate. In November 2011, Smith signed a recording contract with Cash Money Records. On July 23, 2014, Smith announced that he left Cash Money Records due to creative differences and was no longer on Republic. He has released the albums “The Coming” (1996), “When Disaster Strikes” (1997), “E.L.E.
