Ten weeks after it debuted at No. 2, Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” featuring Lil Durk, takes the top spot on Billboard magazine’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs Chart and, in the process secures Drake’s record breaking 21st leader on the chart, rewriting the record he shared with Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder for most No. 1s since the chart began as an all encompassing genre ranking in 1958. “Laugh Now Cry Later” rises from 2-1 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart dated Nov. 7, despite a dip in overall chart activity. “Laugh Now Cry Later”, which is set to appear on Drake’s forthcoming album “Certified Lover Boy”, scheduled for release in January 2021, entered the chart at No. 2 on Aug. 29 and spent nine of its first ten weeks in the runner up spot, consistently unable to overtake Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP.” “Laugh Now Cry Later” ranked No. 2 and 3 respectively, behind Travis Scott’s “Franchise” featuring Young Thug and M.I.A. Now, “WAP” slides from 1-3 after ten weeks in command.
