Singer Kim Cage Riley rose to prominence following a collaborative single with singer/guitarist Jesse Johnson titled “Stronger Than Strong.” However, she’s paid her dues working with R&B stars Peabo Bryson, Ledisi and Deniece Williams. Earlier this year, the Waukegan, IL native dueted with Eric Roberson on the single “Feel A Way.” Now, she’s released her debut solo album, “Family, Friends And Favors”, and the project is excellent from start to finish. A strong songwriter with a sense of classic soul, she is yet another breath of fresh air in a year that has also introduced fans to female vocalists Tanqueray Hayward and Acantha Lang. The ballad “Through My Eyes” is taken from “Family, Friends and Favors”, and it’s a song that looks back fondly on a family relationship but also carries those memories forward into the life that comes ahead. Ms. Cage-Riley delivers a beautiful performance and the song’s subject matter is relatable. Listen to “Through My Eyes” below.
