Bessie Regina Norris, known professionally as Betty Wright, was an American singer/songwriter from Miami, FL. Beginning her professional career in the late 1960s as a teenager, Wright rose to fame in the 1970s with such hits as “Clean Up Woman” and “Tonight Is The Night.” Wright was also prominent in her use of the whisper register. Wright died of cancer at her home in Miami on May 10, 2020. She was 66 years old.
