Arrested Development is an American hip hop group from Atlanta, GA. Formed in 1988, the group was founded by Speech and Headliner as a positive, Afrocentric alternative to the gangsta rap popular in the 1980s. Baba Oje and frontman Speech met while attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Baba Oje was 57 years old at the time. Their debut album, “3 years, 5 Months And 2 Days In The Life Of”, was released in 1992 and featured the singles “Tennessee”, “Mr. Wiggle” and “People Everyday.” Their sophomore effort, “Zingalamaduni”, sold poorly and they broke up in 1996. The group reunited in 2000, touring and releasing new music via Speech’s Vagabond Productions. They have released the albums “3 Years, 5 Months And 2 Days In The Life Of” (1992), “Unplugged” (1993), “Zingalamaduni” (1994), “Da Feelin EP” (2000), “Heroes Of The Harvest” (2001), “Extended Revolution” (2003), “Among The Trees” (2004), “Since The Last Time” (2006), “Strong” (2010), “Standing At The Crossroads” (2012), “Changing The Narrative” (2016), “This Was Never Home” (2016) “Craft & Optics” (2018) and “Don’t Fight Your Demons” (2020).
