Singer/actress Jennifer Hudson first captured the hearts of Americans as a contestant on American Idol. She went on to play a fictionalized historical figure in the film Dreamgirls. Hudson will soon star as another historical figure, singer Aretha Franklin in the film Respect. Speaking of classic soul giants, on her latest single, Hudson covers the Motown classic “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” The song was taken to the top of the charts by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, and it has been covered several times since then. Hudson gives the song a modern sheen, but with just a touch of Philly soul orchestration. And of course, her powerful vocals are are on point as always.
