Adesha is an Oakland-based singer with a keen sense of melody and of the funk and dance music that dominated the airwaves in the 1980s and 90s. That sense of history runs through her new single, a collaboration with French producer DJ AK titled “Crush.” “Crush” sounds very reminiscent of such Kashif hits as “Love Come Down” for Evelyn “Champagne” King and his own “I Just Got To Have You.” It has a heavy bottom will electronics all around. And Adesha’s powerful but restrained vocals work beautifully up front, giving the feel of a classic funk jam. Check out “Crush” below.
