Inga DeCarlo Fung Marchand, known professionally as Foxy Brown, is an American rapper. After signing with Def Jam Records in 1996, she released her debut album, “Ill Na Na”, that same year. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. She was also part of the hip hop ensemble The Firm, along with Nas, AZ and Nature. The Firm’s sole album was released in 1997 via producer Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records. In 1999, her sophomore album “China Doll”, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, making her the second female rapper to top the chart after Lauryn Hill. Her third album, “Broken Silence”, was released in 2001, and featured the single “Na Na Be Like.” In 2003, she left Def Jam Records and canceled the release of the album “Ill Na Na 2”, but returned in 2005 when rapper Jay Z then the label’s president and CEO, signed her again to begin work on another unreleased album entitled “Black Roses.” Her mixtape “Brooklyn Don Diva” was released in May 2008, and her visual album, “King Come Soon”, has been delayed indefinitely.
