Jennifer Holiday rose to fame in the 1980s playing Effie White in the Broadway musical Dreamgirls. She went on to release several albums, always sounding singular as a singer, even with uneven material. And she largely kept fans satisfied with periodic records in the soul, jazz, gospel and dance genres. Ms. Holiday hasn’t been heard from in a few years, and she finally returned to the airwaves with the single “So In Love.” The song hit all platforms on Valentine’s Day. Produced by Terrell Sass and David Farmer, the song is understated in its hook and arrangement, simply letting Holiday’s powerful voice bring it home. Listen to “So In Love” below.
