Singer Paulette McWilliams grew up performing. She played a key role in the Chaka Khan and Rufus story. McWilliams, like Khan, is a Chicago native, and she recommended Khan replace her when she left the band to focus on raising her daughter. McWilliams went on to have a distinguished career in the music and commercial jingles industries. McWilliams collaborated with Bobby Caldwell and Quincy Jones in addition to providing background vocals for Bette Midler, Luther Vandross, David Bowie and Marvin Gaye, just to name a few. She’s also released several jazz and R&B albums, the most recent being 2020’s “A Woman’s Story.” Now, she returns with the single “Tell Me You Love Me.” “Tell Me You Love Me” is the lead single from her latest album “These Are The Sweetest Things.” The track is a mid-tempo adult R&B number that finds McWilliams adopting a conversational, sensual tone to let her lover know she needs some verbal assurances of his commitment.
