Singer Ricco Barrino is bringing classic R&B back to the masses with his new single “You Let Me Down.” For those unaware, Ricco is the brother of singer Fantasia Barrino and cousin of R&B veterans K-Ci and JoJo Hailey of Jodeci. R&B has produced several successful siblings: Michael and Janet Jackson, Brandy and RJ Norwood and Beyonce and Solange Knowles to name a few. The aforementioned amassed individual success by realizing that the best way to avoid comparisons is to not try to replicate the sound of the other sibling. Ricco achieved that goal with his new single. He crafts a sound of his own while showing that the family’s musical brilliance is in his DNA. “You Let Me Down” is the lead single from his EP “Good.” Lyrically, the narrative driven song finds Ricco reflecting on a relationship that didn’t end well. Ricco gives a solid vocal performance. His voice is smooth, melodic and distinct. This is a song that should be on every R&B fan’s playlist. Fans should check out the EP “Good” as well.
