R&B songstress H.E.E. quietly released new music on Friday. The singer joins forces with rapper YG on the tender “Slide”, which finds the two trading sultry verses one-upping their love for one another. “Slide” wasn’t the only track that featured a guest appearance from YG. Baton Rouge, LA native Kevin Gates is back. The rapper released his sophomore effort “I’m Him” today. The 17-track project is the follow up to his 2016 effort “Isiah.” Gates defines who he believes “Him” to be in his rhymes as an acronym for “His imperial majesty.” The 33-year-old released the visual “RBS Intro” along with the project, which finds him exploring Amsterdam. Gates will be heading out on the I’m Him tour shortly, as the trek begins on Oct. 12 in Chicago. YK Osiris, Polo G, NLE Choppa, Rod Wave and 5Dot Fresh will be his supporting acts.
Kevin Jerome Gilyard, known professionally as Kevin Gates, is an American rapper/singer/entrepreneur from Baton Rouge, LA. . Gilyard’s career began when he signed a recording contract with local label Dream Game Records. His career blossomed along with fellow Baton Rouge natives Boosie Badazz and Webbie in the mid-2000s. In 2012, Gilyard created some buzz with the mixtape “Make Em Believe.” He also caught the attention of rapper Lil Wayne’s label Young Money Entertainment. Gilyard signed to the management wing of the label later that year. In 2013, he released the mixtape “The Luca Brasi Story” via his Bread Winners Association label. He has released the albums “Isiah” (2016) and “I’m Him” (2019).
